Solar Project – SRC Foundation

The Symons Recreation Complex Foundation is seeking funds to install a solar energy system at Symons Recreation Complex.

Glen and Mary Schnadt, of Richland Center, have given the SRC Foundation a gift of $35,000 to be used toward solar energy. The Schnadts’, have challenged the SRC Foundation, to raise an additional $15,000 to fund this project.

An independent contractor will evaluate the facility needs to determine which type of solar energy whether electricity, heat or hot water, will be the most cost effective.

Symons Recreation Complex is a recreation facility jointly operated by the City of Richland Center and Richland County. While both government agency’s have given their support for the solar project, no city or county funds will be used to purchase the solar energy system.

Once completed, the solar project will save on renewal resources, while reducing utility/heating costs to Symons Recreation Complex.
